Exterior

Incredible Curb Appeal

March 20, 2011

We have something a little out of the ordinary here today. Typically I’m pretty focused on interiors, but occasionally I come across an image of the exterior of a home that stops me in my tracks. Interestingly, while looking through these images I realized that I am attracted to a variety of looks. I usually think of myself as a pretty modern girl but many of these facades are actually quite traditional and classic. But don’t worry, a couple über modern styles snuck in there.

Warm brick, charming details, and all that green! You know how much I love plant life in the home, so naturally I love it outside too! Some people may find this place a little odd, after all it does look like its being swallowed up by Mother Nature. But I think it is awesome. It’s almost as if the homeowner wanted to feel as if they were living in a tree house. Who wouldn’t love that?! Well I would. Via desire to inspire via realestate.com.au. The perfect solution for someone with a latent wild streak. An otherwise modest building is given a eye popping dash of fun with a bright orange stripe. And if that wasn’t enough, on closer inspection you’ll notice that all the overhanging surfaces are painted a light sky blue! Via Hatchworks.

Normally boxy things bother me. (Except Volvos. They’re allowed.) But this modern home is just fantastic. Via Vårt Nya Hem.

This exterior definitely stole my heart the most out of this group. Charming, quaint, colorful, rustic, and full of life. I LOVE IT. It’s like something out of a classic Disney movie. But better. Because it’s real. Kim of desire to inspire photographed this beautiful place called Hacienda San Angel in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

Boxy, but good. It’s a horrible saying, it should really be: boxy and therefore AWESOME.

That boxy modern building is fantastic. There’s an apartment complex near where I used to live in Ann Arbor that is somewhat like that, but more rectangular, and I was always jealous that I wasn’t rich enough to live in it.

In sum: I own a Volvo. And it’s the best car ever. I love boxy, and I love that boxy home. Boxy = good.
