Design for Children

April 4, 2011

I have known for a long time that I want to be a mother. Lately it seems like more and more people my age are saying that they never want to have kids, and though I understand some of the reasoning, my maternal instinct is much stronger than any reasons to remain childless. I am, however, several years away from even considering starting a family, so sometimes I feel just a tad silly when I get all giddy over children’s interiors and products. But I can’t help myself! It’s that maternal instinct! Plus I can’t resist the cuteness. Today I have for you a round-up of some great children’s interiors. Let me know what you think!

White and green, two of my favorites. And the chair is so playful and inviting. Styled by Cia Wedin. Photographed by Magnus Anesund for Elle Interiör.

I’d love to see this room with more wall decoration. Check out that sleek crib. Via Light Locations.

A single super-sized plush animal provides so much fun and whimsy in a space. And that bed frame is fabulous. From artist Sarah Hvass‘ home via Design*Sponge.

This is one of the first children’s spaces that I fell in love with. Those puffy pom-poms are so adorably feminine, and I also love the Molly Meg chairs. They inspired me to snatch up a few child-sized chairs on Craigslist several months ago. They look pretty silly in my spare bedroom right now… but one day maybe they’ll be in a room like this! Wow – wouldn’t have thought that white floors would be so popular for kids’ rooms. But maybe their kids are more neat than I ever was as a child. Thanks for sharing!
