Decorate to Delight

April 8, 2011

It’s time again for a Details post! It may seem silly or frivolous to put a lot of effort into decorating the little nooks and surfaces of your home, but I bet if you give it a shot you’ll start finding a lot to love about little decorative objects. Unless, of course, you’re super minimalist. Minimalists can ignore me.

I really really love this massive clear vase full of flowers. If you’re going to use flowers that have nice thick stems, they’ll look fantastic in a clear vase. Via Micasa.

Don’t you just love bud vases? A single flower can be just as much of a statement as a massive bunch. Photographed by Patric Johansson, via Söderberg Agentur.

Even if your whole dish-ware collection can’t be the same color, it’s still totally possible to create lovely vignettes with only a handful of matching pieces. I find this image very inspirational in that regard. Would you ever consider displaying common kitchen items in this way? Photographed by Magnus Anesund, via Söderberg Agentur.

I love this. There’s so much to look at and be surprised and delighted by. This is just one slice of a tabletop decoration in the German home of Irina Graewe. Many more pictures of this home at Design*Sponge.
