Dreaming of Sunny Outdoor Spaces

Well it happened. My area saw snow yesterday. The first snow of the season always has an interesting effect on people. Everyone talks about it. Typically you either love it or you hate it. I can handle a little snow, I mean who doesn’t love looking out the window and feeling like you’re in a snow globe? It can be very beautiful. But when I consider braving the bitter cold and the icy roads, I get a sudden urge to pack up and nomad my way to a warmer climate. Don’t even get me started about scraping ice off my car.

So perhaps it’s fitting in this fleeting time when I can still see some green grass before it’s blanketed in white that my mind has drifted to the design of outdoor spaces.

This architecture is stunning. And yes I suppose this is more of a courtyard than an outdoor space strictly speaking, but it’s close enough. Just look at all that wonderful green. Via My Favorite and My Best.

This pretty much melts my face off. Via From Greenwich.

Such a sweet outdoor dining space. There’s so much beautiful texture in the stone and brick, and I love the effect of the warm glowing light from inside the home. Photographed by Johanna Ekmark via Söderberg Agentur.

An excellent example of what can be done with a small space. To me the color choices here are perfection. I might just have to replicate this on my own little deck. You know, later, when winter isn’t about to pummel us. Via From Greenwich.

Happy Weekend!
