Dream Bathroom

June 11, 2012

Right around the time I started to get the ball rolling on planning an update for my full bathroom I realized that I am in no position to be jumping into that just quite yet. Mainly because I decided to finally tackle the elusive water leak in the ceiling of my kitchen. Much to my chagrin, that should probably take precedence over any purely aesthetic projects. Harrumph.

My father came over this weekend to do some preliminary demo work to make way for a contractor to come in and find the source of the leak. So I have a big ol’ hole in my ceiling and an excellent view of some lovely pluming pipes and dusty floor boards. It’s not really that bad, and I’m so grateful that my dad does things like that for me!

Soooo. Once this repair is complete and paid for, (and once my August vacation is paid for), I will then *fingers crossed* tackle the bathroom. It won’t be a complete overhaul, but even the smallest updates will be big improvements from the mess of a room that is currently going on. Let’s look at some beautiful bathrooms so I can distract myself.

I adore this bathroom. The simple, rustic, country look is not one I see being in my life any time soon, but I find rooms like this so calming and easy on the eyes. Photographed by Björn Wallander for Country Living, via My White Room.

Okay first of all, that tile is killer. Not sure if I would ever be so bold but I dig it. The gold gilded mirror and old-timey sconces are perfectly playful for the space. And the flowers provide the perfect extra dose of color. It really is so easy to win me over with pink these days. Styled by Marianne Cotterill via My Favorite and My Best.

So much pretty. Love the use of wood and the black window casing. By Feldman Architecture via desire to inspire.

Brass fixtures: yes please! Also the tile on the floor of the shower looks awesome. Designed by Benedikte Ugland via The Beautiful Soup.

Again with awesome tile and brass fixtures! Brass was popular decades ago and then went through a phase where most everyone found it hideous, myself included. I think it was done a disservice in the ’80s when lots of very flimsy and easily-tarnished brass surfaces were used for things like door hinges and fireplace screens that became very unattractive very quickly. Well brass is back in full force today and I hope it stays for a while. With a lustrous golden sheen it really adds something special to a room. By decorology on Flickr via i.go.blog.

Just fabulous. I know not everyone will agree with me on this one, but that wallpaper is a show-stopper. I wonder if my tastes will ever tip in favor of either the serene and simple or the bold and flashy, because as of right now I can’t seem to make up my mind! The home of Marjorie Skouras, Apartment Therapy via i.go.blog. “Martinique” wallpaper available here.

I’m so obsessed with this room. It is making me desperately want a pink room… maybe one day. A bathroom would be a great place to do it, since it’s largely private and the man of the house can probably avoid it if he so desires, haha. Not only is the wall color wooing me but again the tile here is amazing. Geometric patterns on the floor and muted gray subway tile on the walls. Do you like it? Via Nuevo Estilo.

That blue tile bathroom is insanely amazing. Great pictures. I’m so in love with all of them. When I put together my last blog, I found a photo of a pink bathroom with vintage elements. It’s such a great combination.

So glad you like these! You’re so right, vintage is great with pink. I think they balance each other well. 🙂
