Get To Know You – The perfect number…

What do you think is the perfect number of children to have?
If you could choose their genders, what would they be?

I’ve always hovered around the number three. That’s how many children my parents had and it just seems like a good, average number. But I also think I would be happy with either two or four.

If after having two I have one boy and one girl, I may stop. If I have two girls or two boys, I’d probably try for a third, hoping to get the opposite sex. I know lots of families end up with children of all the same sex and wouldn’t change a thing, but if we’re talking ideally, I would like to have a mix. Hopefully after three that’d be the case, but if not I would only consider adding a fourth if my future husband and I felt very financially secure. With my luck I’ll end up with four boys who all love football and I’ll be sequestered to some kind of mom cave every game day.

So in summary, I’ll say my ideal would be two girls and two boys, in no particular order. How about you? (If you don’t want kids, that’s a totally valid answer! If you’re already a parent or done growing your family, tell us what you once thought your “ideal” family would look like… or you could just tell us how awesome your kids are.)

  1. Well, obviously MY family has the perfect number and gender representation. ;) I have two girls and a boy…..in that order. Three is the perfect number for me. We did think about having just one more, but now i’m super glad we decided not to. At ages 14, 12 and 8, they are getting very expensive!
