Unexpected Decorating in the Bathroom

The bathroom is generally not the first room to be decorated. Rooms like the living room that are more “public” and in use more hours of the day are usually our first focus, and rightfully so. But giving the bathroom some decorating love will really make the whole home feel more put-together and personal. If you’re stumped on how to decorate your bathroom, just take a look at what you’ve done elsewhere in your home. Quirky portraits? Potted plants? I am a big proponent for decorating the bathroom just like you would any other space; there’s no reason to abandon your style and make the room purely utilitarian.

There are conventional ways of designing things in the bathroom, but if you let your mind wander outside of that box, the results can be fantastic. Funky paint treatments, multiple small mirrors instead of one big one, etc. I’m not always so great at thinking outside the box myself, which is why I love stumbling upon amazing inspiring photos like these.

Okay, clearly most of us do not have a bathroom this expansive. But holy cow, it does make one think doesn’t it? Like if for some reason I’m ever renovating a huge home and I have a whole extra room that I don’t know what to do with… gigantic bathroom it is. With multiple big windows and space for lounge chairs, this beautifully decorated bathroom becomes much more than the sum of its parts. Also- kitty cats: the best accessory.

Love that massive bathroom too! I think it’s such a good idea to make the bathroom feel more like a regular room: somewhere you can sit down, read a magazine and sip a coffee while you’re waiting for the mask on your face to work its magic or for you hair dye to set.
