Sophisticated Bedroom Design

Creating a comfortable and sophisticated bedroom is no easy task. My own bedroom still feels very juvenile with its obvious lack of furniture and quirks like a queen-size duvet on a king-size bed. Oh, how I long for the day when I may have beautiful luxurious bedding, perfectly coordinated textiles, and a refined color palette.

Neutral colors and soft textures make a bedroom that feels like a cozy cave. Of course you know I love color, but when neutrals are done right they sure are tempting. Whenever I get around to buying “real” bedding I’m going to seriously consider fabrics that are naturally and intentionally a little wrinkled and textured, like the blanket here puddling on the floor. I can not stand how wrinkled bedding looks when it is supposed to be crisp. I splurged on what was for me an expensive fitted sheet ($64) after doing hours of research into “wrinkle free” sheets. That purchase pretty much confirmed for me that there is no such thing as wrinkle free sheets. At least not in my price range.

I looove this. It is both sophisticated and playful, feminine and masculine, dramatic yet simple. I love the use of dark colors in design, and it is especially appropriate for the bedroom. When I recently picked out a paint color for the bathroom connected to my bedroom, I also sort of inadvertently picked out a coordinating color for the bedroom. It is a delicious dark navy blue. Here’s hoping I ever get around to actually painting it! And if you’re wondering, I do plan to share the updates I’ve done to my bathroom, I’m just tackling all those little straggling tasks that need to be done before I can really call the project finished. Hopefully within a couple weeks!

Can’t wait to see your finished projects! As always, your blog is going to send me on a pinning spree. Beautiful photos. As for the wrinkle-free sheets, I’ve never found any that are truly wrinkle-free. One set was very close. If I can remember the brand, I’ll let you know.

I love it when people pin stuff from my blog! 🙂 Yeah I sort of suspected that truly wrinkle-free sheets was just too good to be true. It doesn’t help that I can’t dry mine in my dryer because my dryer is an absolute piece of crap that burns holes in things. Ha!

I love that you had the thought to pick out a coordinating color for the bedroom and a dark navy blue makes it even better! Atleast you got the first step done:).

Grace- I was struggling so much with choosing a color for the bathroom, but when it occurred to me that I really wanted dark navy in the bedroom it helped SO much to have that to go off of. And yes, it is exciting that if and when I go to paint my bedroom I won’t have to spend hours pouring over paint ideas, haha. That first step is a doozy! Just hopped over to your blog and was tickled to see you’re from Grand Rapids as well. 🙂
